Fur Care

  • Always have your fur cleaned by a reputable fur professional. Never try to clean fur yourself or have it cleaned by someone with no experience. Dry cleaning, laundering, or washing will damage your fur.
  • Never store your fur accessory or garment in a plastic or other non-breathable bag or covering. Fur should not be crushed and must have air circulation at all times.
  • It is not recommended to store fur in a cedar closet because if absorbs moisture and may dry out your fur. Never use moth balls around fur.
  • If your fur gets wet just shake off excess snow or water and hang dry in a well-ventilated indoor area at room temperature. Never put fur next to heat. This includes radiators, fireplaces, stoves, and other sources of heat. You can brush or comb fur when dry.
  • Do not expose fur to direct sunlight or other lighting for long periods of time. It will cause discoloration and dry out the oils of the skin. Place fur in a dark, cool area when it’s not in use.
  • Never spray fur with chemicals such as leather softeners, alcohol, silicone or other substances. Avoid getting hairspray, perfume, smoke, or makeup directly on fur. This will dry out the leather and may damage the guard hairs and the scent will absorb into the fur.
  • You can always wear your fur in snow or light rain. Water will run off fur and will not penetrate to the leather undercoat. Make sure fur does not get soaked in the rain.
  • Do not put any type of fur into a washing machine, it will ruin fur completely.
